Administrative Director – Spine, Physiatry & Chiropractic Programs JOB LOCATION Duke Spine Center 40 Duke Medicine Circle Clinic 1B/1C, Durham, NC Duke University School of Medicine seeks a dynamic, collaborative, and strategic Administrative Director to provide leadership and operational oversight for the Spine, Physiatry, and Chiropractic programs within the Departments of Neurosurgery and Orthopaedic Surgery. This role supports clinical operations, financial stewardship, faculty affairs, educational programs, and strategic growth initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master’s degree may substitute years of experience.
  • Seven years of progressive administrative experience in healthcare.
  • Experience partnering with clinical operations teams to improve workflows, patient access, and provider scheduling models.
  • Prior involvement with patient access strategy, capacity optimization, or service expansion initiatives.
  • Familiarity with revenue cycle components (charges, billing, receipts, reconciliation, variance analysis).
  • Demonstrated responsibility for large, multi‑fund budgets (operational, capital, payroll).
  • Experience preparing or presenting financial or operational dashboards to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative oversight across clinical, financial, HR, educational, and research-support functions.
  • Ensure smooth daily operations across multidisciplinary Spine, Physiatry, and Chiropractic divisions.
  • Collaborate to optimize workflows and enhance efficiency at all care sites.
  • Work with Duke Health Access Services to improve patient access.
  • Partner with Marketing & Communications to support growth initiatives.
  • Prepare and analyze operational and financial reports.
  • Lead financial oversight of fellowship programs.
  • Lead the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding process for new faculty.
  • Assess workforce needs and develop recruitment strategies.
  • Partner on annual faculty reviews, goal-setting, and strategic alignment.
  • Develop and manage divisional budgets.
  • Provide financial insights for leadership decision-making.
