  • To qualify for the position, the candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of secretarial classes beyond high school or an Associate degree in secretarial science or related field preferred.
  • Five years of administrative secretarial experience required.
  • Experience in a health care setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of advanced word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software required
  • Ability to type 60 words per minute
  • Ability to transcribe minutes and handle meeting discussions for transcription
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and/or health care methods
  • Ability to ensure the confidentiality and rights of patients and confidentiality of health system and departmental documents required
  • The ability to communicate effectively with employees, physicians, hospital management and the general public.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions.
  • Ability to prioritize work responsibilities and problem solve using analytical and problem solving skills.
  • While performing this job the individual will work in a confined high-traffic area.
  • The job requires sitting approximately 80% of the time and standing and walking 20% of the time.
  • The job requires visual and auditory acuity and ability to orally communicate.
  • Ability to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 35 lbs. and reaching pulling and pushing is required.
  • There is a potential for exposure to blood and/or body substances and hazardous materials.
  • Successful completion of secretarial classes beyond high school or an Associate degree in secretarial science or related field preferred.
  • Experience in a health care setting preferred.
  • Certified Professional Secretary designation preferred.
