About The Position

The Administrative Assistant will perform a wide range of secretarial functions to include typing, filing, computer knowledge, organizational and people skills in a customer friendly environment within Erlanger Health System. Composes letters, Microsoft Office computer skills required. Adaptability in a seamless manner to constantly changing work environment required; frequent interruptions; flexible hours. Must be a team player and capable of multitasking. Must be able to sit at a desk for extended periods of time utilizing computer keyboard and screen, arranging appointments, placing, receiving and returning telephone calls and messages. Knowledge of medical terminology. The assistant will have a dual reporting relationship with the Chief of Cardiology and the Physician Practice Operations Director. This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices' patient population. Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.

Requirements

  • High school graduate
  • Two years post high school education or related work experience
  • General office practice, business communication or comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of secretarial experience and in the health care setting.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
