This position is located at Neuse Correctional Institution in Goldsboro/Wayne County. This is 1 of 2 positions that perform all of the mailroom duties for the facility processing both incoming and outgoing mail for staff and inmates. The mailroom positions are responsible for picking up inmate funds from Intake and Operations as well as all outgoing mail for the facility, ensuring policies & procedures are followed. This position will be trained on inmate allowed publications and will follow memos/policy on contraband, etc. The mailroom positions will make trips to the US Post Office daily, except Holidays to receive facility mail, pick up courier mail from Cherry Hospital and will distribute according to policy. The mailroom positions will handle incoming inmate funds and enter the deposit batches into the OPUS system to the inmate Trust Fund accounts. The mailroom positions will keep inventory of indigent stamps, handle inmate legal mail, inmate personal property boxes, etc. The mailroom positions must be able to work well with others and be able to handle daily contact with the general public via direct contact or telephone and be able to work with numerous interruptions. Should be able to prioritize work according to the needs of the facility. The positions involve daily use of the following office equipment: telephone, computer, postage meter, postal scales, calculator, shredder, copy machine, fax machine. The mailroom positions must have a valid NC driver license and be able to operate a state vehicle, (car, truck or van) in all types of weather, including in climate weather. The mailroom positions are expected to follow instructions from Management regarding reporting to work during all kinds of weather. This position will have daily contact with incarcerated individuals. This position will work and rotate with the other mailroom position an 8-hour shift between the hours of 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. This position will take at least a 30-minute lunch break. Hours are subject to change. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity.
