THIS IS A REPOST - APPLICANTS THAT PREVIOUSLY APPLIED MUST RE-APPLY TO BE CONSIDERED This position provides administrative and clerical support for the Ocracoke Ferry Operation of the North Carolina Department of Transportation. Responsibilities include compiling, reviewing, verifying, and recording data for records and reports; maintaining accurate files; and generating monthly analyses. The employee interacts daily with the public and must demonstrate excellent customer service and professional telephone etiquette. The role requires strong organizational, problem-solving, and mathematical skills, as well as the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks accurately and efficiently. Duties also include maintaining compliance with NCDOT workplace and safety policies and performing other tasks as assigned. This position operates on a 7 days on / 7 days off schedule. Possession of a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) issued by the TSA is preferred.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of office procedures, methods and practices
  • Experience using Windows 7 (or greater), Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, Outlook) and Internet Explorer.
  • Experience gathering and giving information and instructions.
  • Skill in working with people with courtesy and tact, utilizing customer service skills.
  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) issued by the TSA is preferred.
