This position serves as Human Resources (HR) assistant at Nash Correctional Institution and reports to the Administrative Specialist I (HR Supervisor). This is an anticipated vacancy. This position is expected to be available on [12/1/25]. Positions in this class are characterized by their performance of a variety of administrative, clerical, and office support duties. Job Duties include: Knowledge of the office or work unit policies and procedures in order to communicate information involving programs, functions, and services. Preparation of documents and reports, composition of memos and letters, the use of office technology, compiling records, organizing and maintaining files, posting information, greeting, referring, assisting visitors, clients, staff, and others, mail distribution, and photocopying. Recruitment, payroll, state employee benefits, workers compensation, retirement, and other areas within human resources. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits with established working hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-5:00pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business need. Note to Current State Employees: The salary grade for this position is NC02 Salary Sange ($28,194 - $49,340.) State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result. About Nash Correctional Institution: Nash Correctional Institution is a medium custody facility located in Nashville, Nash County NC. It houses approximately 800 male offenders. The facility provides offender labor to two Correction Enterprises operations located on site: the Optical Plant and the Print Plant. The Optical Plant manufactures eyeglasses for customers such as Medicaid and the Division of Services for the Blind. The Print Plant is a full-service print shop dedicated to printing services for state government agencies, public school systems, state community colleges and universities, and non-profit organizations.
