About The Position

This position is located at Hyde Correctional Institution, Swan Quarter, NC. This position will have an office that is located in a Minimum Custody Facility and is subject to contact with minimum custody male offenders. Provide clerical and administrative support in a correctional setting for the Associate Warden of Custody. This support provides clerical and secretarial duties to Custody supervisors. This position has frequented public contact through direct calls, taking messages, answering questions, using sound judgment, and discretion on how to handle information received, as it relates to the facility. Document processing and preparation, such as typing, collating, and logging various reports, plans, rosters, charts, operation procedures, etc. This position will prepare, and compile statistics and other information required as part of regular reporting routines for management, as well as record and transcribe meeting minutes as needed. A great deal of confidentiality is required in much of the correspondence, such as those dealing with employee discipline, or other personnel matters, offenders' custody status, etc. This position will use a personal computer with Microsoft Office Suite, and departmental specific applications as well as calculator, fax machine, and copy machines on a daily basis. This position will maintain an efficient comprehensive filing system, with the ability to enter and retrieve information from various electronic and/or physical data retention systems. Requirements

  • Excellent typing abilities, good spelling and grammatical skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to compile, organize and present information based on general instructions.
  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Documented composition and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Documented proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
