About The Position

Under the direct supervision of our Medical Director, the Administrative Officer 2 position serves as the department’s administrative support for the research and academic activities of our faculty. The position interacts with UCSFand ZSFG administrative units and interacts directly with department faculty to assist their research and academic needs. This may include assistance with IRB/CHR submissions, managing Material Transfer Agreements, transfer of pathology materials intended for research, database searches, and assisting faculty with purchasing and compliance issues. The incumbant supplies academic support in the form of scheduling and meeting management, submission of academic forms and applications, assists with preparing publications and presentations and is assigned other projects as needed by the Department’s Medical Director. Duties also include administrative support for laboratory operations (ordering, protocol tracking, safety coordination, lab organization, equipment maintenance, and research administration support); collaborates with research staff to facilitate studies. Experience in a UCSF academic, research administrative setting and familiarty with laboratory technics is strongly preferred. Familiarity with UCSF information, purchasing and accounting systems is helpful. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $29.05 - $53.50 (Hourly Rate). Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 1 – 3 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience / training
  • Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff verbally and in writing
  • Solid organizational skills and ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes
  • Working knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs
  • Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint is required
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Experience supporting research projects and activiites including, but not limited to CHR/IRB submission, purchasing, budgeting
  • Preparation of publications and presentations

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a UCSF academic, research administrative setting and familiarty with laboratory technics is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with UCSF information, purchasing and accounting systems is helpful
  • Experience with Bearbuy, MyExpense, Advance, Photoshop
