About The Position

The Clinical Administrative Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring efficient operations of the Telemetry/Medical Surgical Unit by providing administrative and clerical support. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate with clinical staff, patients, and families. The Clinical Administrative Assistant will assist with patient flow, maintain accurate documentation, and facilitate communication between departments to enhance patient care and safety.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a healthcare administrative role, preferably in a hospital or medical setting.
  • Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) and hospital scheduling systems.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods, including data entry and documentation.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing and handling paperwork.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds occasionally.
  • Visual acuity to read screens, documents, and reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and via electronic communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in healthcare administration or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced hospital environment preferred.
  • Additional training in medical terminology or healthcare administration preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage administrative functions, including scheduling, documentation, and communication within the unit.
  • Support nursing staff by maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring timely data entry in electronic health systems.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, families, physicians, and unit staff, ensuring effective communication and a positive patient experience.
  • Manage inventory and supply orders for the unit, ensuring adequate stock of medical and office supplies.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies and procedures, including patient confidentiality and safety regulations.
