About The Position

Under general supervision, performs a variety of specialized and responsible administrative support duties in support of division or section functions and work processes; creates and maintains specialized records, reports and files; interacts with department and division staff and staff of other departments on technical matters; and performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of: Office administration practices and procedures; principles and practices of sound business communication; correct English usage, including spelling, grammar and punctuation; District organization, functions, rules, policies and procedures applicable to assigned areas of responsibility; practices and procedures used in work order processing; District personnel policies and labor contract provisions; operations and requirements of the District payroll system; financial accounting and payroll terminology; District benefits programs, provisions and options; word processing, spreadsheet and other standard business software; bookkeeping and elementary accounting; records management, recordkeeping, filing and purchasing practices and procedures.
  • Ability to: Operate a computer terminal and computer using word processing, spreadsheet and other business software; operate other standard office equipment; type accurately at a speed necessary to meet the requirements of the position; organize, set priorities and exercise sound independent judgment within areas of responsibility; interpret, apply, explain and reach sound decisions in accordance with District and department policies and procedures and labor contract provisions; organize and maintain office and specialized files; communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing; understand and follow written and oral instructions; prepare clear, accurate and concise records and reports; establish and maintain effective working relationships with District managers, staff, the public and others encountered in the course of work.
  • graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent and four years of increasingly responsible office administrative or secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
