About The Position

Retirees of the Texas Teachers Retirement System (TRS) may apply. Consistent with district policy SD-7.17 “Employment of Retirees,” selected applicants are responsible for reimbursing the district, through payroll deduction, for the current rate of all TRS pension or TRS Care surcharges. As of September 1, 2025, the TRS pension surcharge rate is 16.5% and the TRS Care surcharge is $535/month. Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt Pay Group: S35 Salary Plan Primary Purpose: Provide administrative and technical assistance to the Division Director of Instruction and Department Directors of Instruction.

Requirements

  • High school diploma from an accredited high school or High School Equivalent.
  • Seven years of full-time, wage-earning general clerical, secretarial, or administrative support experience.
  • Thirty semester hours from an accredited college, university, or technical school may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis with a maximum substitution of two years.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.
  • Knowledge of school district organization, operations, and policies.
  • Skill to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer software necessary to develop, organize and maintain reports, files, data, calendars, and correspondence.
  • Ability to use online resources preferred.

  • Ability to perform full duties of position, lift and carry up to 30 pounds, walking, sitting, standing, climbing stairs and ramps, kneeling, stooping, reaching, hearing (with aid), visual acuity, speaking, travel by car, van, or airplane, driving of car/van, distinguishing colors, occasional prolonged and irregular work hours.
  • Work inside and outside, noise, radiant/electrical energy, work alone, work with others, around machines with moving parts and objects, possible exposure to microwaves in use, exposure to hot and cold temperatures, exposure to dust and cleaning chemicals.

Nice To Haves

  • Type 55 net words per minute with no more than ten errors verified by the appropriate Texas Workforce Commission or TDCJ typing test preferred.
  • This position requires personal technology that will enable the completion of job duties and responsibilities when working remotely.
  • Ability to use online resources preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Compose correspondence including memos, letters, and reports.
  • Maintain administrative records and prepare reports, including sick leave, conference attendance, special attendance, and department activities report.
  • Prepare and audit travel vouchers for assigned personnel. Coordinate vehicle assignments and travel arrangements for assigned staff.
  • Serve as general office manager; prepare and maintain office files, and maintain appointment calendars.
  • Support the Division Director and Department Directors of Instruction in coordinating department operations and activities; communicate objectives, tasks, and decisions to staff on behalf of the department director.
  • Provide assistance in maintaining budgets including verification that funds are available in the budget line and appropriate codes are used on all requisitions. Submitting requisitions.
  • Coordinate and schedule trainings and staff development activities for the department. Tracking required trainings of Division of Instruction staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information received in the performance of the job duties.
  • Perform duties in a professional manner through daily, punctual attendance at locations of work assignment.
  • Follow Windham School District policies and procedures in completing assigned job duties.
  • Execute duties in a professional, ethical and responsible manner as defined in 19 TAC Chapter 247, Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
