About The Position

This is a highly responsible professional position accountable for planning, organizing, and implementing the state process for review and approval of teacher preparation programs. Employee’s time and effort are assigned to a dedicated function as is indicated on the monthly payroll.  Attendance at work is an essential job function. The employee must be productive under tight timeframes, balance multiple and competing priorities and maintain goal-directed behavior and performance sometimes under stressful conditions. The employee must interact courteously with others. The employee’s performance and behavior must demonstrate consideration of the workload concerns of others and must not negatively affect productivity and morale of the unit. Attendance is an essential function of this position.

Requirements

  • Two years of professional experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the statewide process for the review and approval of all state-approved Professional Development Certification Programs (PDCPs), formerly known as district alternative certification programs, implemented by Florida public school districts, charter schools and charter school organizations.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver training for the approval of Professional Development Certification Programs (PDCPs) implemented by Florida public school districts, charter schools and charter school organizations.
  • Organize, train and direct evaluation teams to conduct the review of all Professional Development Certification Programs (PDCPs) implemented by Florida public school districts, charter schools and charter school organizations.
  • Provide technical assistance for Professional Development Certification Programs (PDCPs) implemented by Florida public school districts, charter schools and charter school organizations.
  • Assist in providing technical assistance for annual data collection in the eIPEP platform to all state-approved teacher preparation programs (initial teacher preparation programs (ITPs), educator preparation institutes (EPIs), Professional Development Certification Program (PDCP), Educational Leadership programs, and Professional Training Options (PTOs).
  • Assist in the coordination of data collection for initial teacher preparation programs (ITPs), educator preparation institutes (EPIs), and professional development certification programs (PDCPs).
  • Assist in providing technical assistance for data collection to all state-approved teacher preparation programs (initial teacher preparation programs (ITPs), educator preparation institutes (EPIs), Professional Development Certification Program (PDCP), Educational Leadership programs, and Professional Training Options (PTOs).
  • Update and maintain the Educator Preparation unit’s database on state-approved teacher preparation programs, including institutional contacts, and provide information for updating the department’s website.
  • Serve as the “back-up” for the bureau for the department’s website updates and ensuring documents are ADA compliant.
  • Serve as the “back-up” for the bureau’s trained person for preparing Paperless Memos, ADA compliance and Step One and Two distribution through the Chancellor’s Weekly Memo.
  • Collaborate with bureau staff in matters related to program and policy development that facilitates the improvement of teacher preparation programs, including State Board of Education rules pertaining to educator quality.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the program director and bureau chief.
