About The Position

This position provides administrative support to assigned administrative hearing officers from the beginning to the end of the hearing process. The appeals are based on actions by the Department of Children and Families, and other state agencies. Researches and gathers information for hearing officer, related to electronic case preparation. Reviews administrative orders, decisions, and other legal documents. Reviews filings, enters data, and uploads records into the electronic case, to produce printed originals of hearing notices, decision, orders, and other documents. Researches hearing requests to determine reason for the request, program involved, and the appropriate parties. Once determined, takes appropriate action in the electronic case. Maintains suspense files and associates incoming documents with case files. Assembles case material for electronic scanning and distribution for appeals filed with the Hearing Officer. Transmits materials to the Hearing Officer timely, to comply with all relevant statutes and rules. Reviews and requests missing information for upcoming hearings. Certifies and distributes orders of the Hearing Officers, ensuring the accuracy of filing dates and completeness. Makes copies and distributes documents to parties of the case. Performs a variety of office functions to include typing, copying, filing, answering telephone, etc. Maintains production and quality control by reviewing finished product for typewritten and grammatical errors. Responds to written and verbal requests for inspection and copying of records. Answers inquiries from staff and public. Provides backup assistance to all other administrative staff. Attend staff meetings; participate in training opportunities and all department initiatives. Reviews and issues subpoenas pursuant to Chapter 120.569(2)(f), Florida Statutes.
