About The Position

This is a paraprofessional position assigned to the Office of Economic Self-Sufficiency.  The incumbent provides a high level of administrative support to management personnel and is responsible for a wide range of duties to help maintain the smooth flow of day-to-day operations.  The incumbent in this role is required to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and one year of administrative experience.
  • A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for the required experience.
  • Administrative or clerical experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), excellent typing, communication, writing, and time management skills are needed to perform the duties of this position.
  • State of Florida Employment applications must reflect most current position and all previous employment history in order to receive full consideration.
  • Some Agency positions may require successful completion of pre-interview assessment or work sample prior to interview.
  • It is the policy of the Florida Department of Children and Families that any applicant being considered for employment must successfully complete a State and National criminal history check as a condition of employment before beginning employment, and, if applicable, also be screened in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, F.S., and Chapter 408, F.S.  No applicant may begin employment until the background screening results are received, reviewed for any disqualifying offenses, and approved by the Agency.  Background screening shall include, but not be limited to, fingerprinting for State and Federal criminal records checks through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and may include local criminal history checks through local law enforcement agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage incoming and outgoing telephonic, electronic communication and written correspondence.
  • Manage a busy calendar.
  • Operate office equipment with proficiency and use a variety of accounting, word-processing, graphic presentation, and database software applications.
  • Manage ordering of supplies.
  • Compose and distribute a variety of correspondence.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Perform special assignments, prepare reports and related duties.
