About The Position

The Home Health Administrative Assistant is responsible for modeling the Compassus values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Innovation and for promoting the Compassus philosophy, using the 6 Pillars of Success as the foundation. S/he is responsible for upholding the Code of Ethical Conduct and for promoting positive working relationships within the company, among all departments, and all external stakeholders. The Home Health Administrative Assistant combines organizational skills, effective communication, and attention to detail to facilitate administrative processes and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care. S/he facilitates the communication functions of the business office and provides clerical support.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of general office support experience required.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, colleagues, investors, and external parties. Strong written and verbal communications.
  • Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Articulates and embraces hospice philosophy.

Responsibilities

  • Provides clerical support which may include preparation of admission, monitoring and ordering office supplies and forms, typing, special projects, filing, and copying.
  • Facilitates the communication systems which may include mail distribution, pagers, phone system, memos, answers incoming calls, documents, and disseminates appropriate messages.
  • Provides computer support and data entry.
  • Serves as a point of contact for patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare providers, providing information, addressing inquiries, and relaying messages to the appropriate staff.
  • Maintains organized storage areas for supplies and equipment.
  • Schedules and organizes meetings, conferences, and training sessions for agency staff.
  • Prepares meeting materials, agendas, and minutes as required.
  • Ensures the cleanliness and organization of office spaces.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
