About The Position

Serves as Administrative Assistant to the VP/Chief Nursing Officer and/or VP/Chief Financial Officer. The Medical Staff Coordinator will have knowledge of health care systems and credentialling practices. Provides administrative support to the Medical Staff, conducts provider orientation, education on policy and procedures as well as Medical Staff Bylaws. Records minutes of multiple meetings including Credentials Committee, Medical Executive Committee and others as assigned. Provides support for Nursing Supervisors and Clinical Coordinators and assumes primary responsibility for all clerical functions of Nursing Administration.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum three years of clerical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Composes, types and transcribes correspondence, forms, reports, presentation materials and other written communications.
  • Provides a professional environment for patients, staff, vendors and visitors. Receives, screens and routes visitors and telephone calls.
  • Responds to, escalates and follow-up on inquiries and problems as appropriate
  • Works with all levels of internal management and staff for project coordination
  • Schedules coordinates meetings, conference, special events, appointments and travel arrangements
  • Maintains central filing system and data bases
  • Possess a strong degree of sensitivity to confidential matters
  • Creates and maintains all credentialed provider files
  • Requires critical thinkings skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must possess strong organizational and computer skills.
  • Autonomous decision making is involved regarding medical staff credentialing process. Gathers information, reviews and forwards to Credentials Committee complete applications. Able to independently review and escalate issues involving credentialing / privileging to Director.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Handle with Care to be received within 30 days of orientation and kept annually
  • Receives, screens and routes visitors and telephone calls. Responds to, escalates and follows up on inquiries and problems as appropriate.
  • Maintains monthly Emergency Department Call Schedule
  • Maintains files and office equipment and stocks supplies
  • Maintain Practitioner Database
  • Organize Continuing Medical Education Opportunities upon request
  • Maintain working knowledge regulatory standards and requirements related to Medical Staff Credentialing
  • Schedules / coordinate meetings, conferences, special events, appointments and travel arrangements
