IQVIA is hiring an ADME Automation Intern to support our Indianapolis office in the Summer of 2026! This position will be on-site. Overview: The intern will collaborate closely with IQVIA's scientists on high-value projects throughout the summer, gaining hands-on experience and expertise in core competencies. We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated intern to lead the development of a comprehensive, user-friendly operator manual for an automated liquid handling system. This role focuses on translating complex technical workflows into clear, standardized documentation that improves laboratory efficiency, reduces operational errors, and enhances training and onboarding experiences. Over the course of six weeks, the intern will gain hands-on exposure to laboratory automation while creating high-impact documentation used by operators, engineers, and new hires across the lab. Intern Project Proposal: Automation Documentation & Operations (Automated Liquid Handling Systems) Lead the end-to-end development of a comprehensive operator manual for an automated liquid handling platform. Research system components by reviewing existing SOPs, vendor documentation, and internal materials. Observe routine laboratory operations to understand real-world workflows and operator needs. Translate technical processes into clear, structured, and easy-to-follow documentation. Develop content covering: System overview Setup and calibration Routine workflows Error handling and troubleshooting Maintenance procedures Safety guidelines Best practices Create visual aids including diagrams, screenshots, and workflow flowcharts. Develop quick reference guides to support daily use and onboarding. Collaborate with laboratory operators, automation engineers, and technical staff to validate accuracy through feedback and test runs. Deliver polished, digital- and print-ready documentation, with the option to contribute to an interactive version for the internal knowledge base. Qualifications Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in engineering, life sciences, technical communication, or a related field Strong technical writing and documentation skills Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly content High attention to detail and strong organizational skills Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional technical teams Experience with laboratory environments, automation systems, or SOP development is a plus (but not required) What You’ll Gain Hands-on experience with laboratory automation and operational workflows Exposure to cross-functional collaboration with engineers and technical experts A tangible portfolio piece demonstrating technical documentation and process improvement Insight into how standardized documentation improves efficiency, quality, and training in a regulated lab environment Must be local to the Indianapolis office for the duration of the summer. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time).
