Aurora Charter Oak Hospital has been delivering Behavioral Health Treatment Services for over 83 years and is located on 10 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds in Covina, California, about 22 miles east of downtown Los Angeles.

Requirements

Certified or Registered Recreation Therapist, Art Therapist OR Music Therapist (CTRS, RTC, ATR, or CBMT)
Current BLS for healthcare provider card upon hire
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
Certification or registration required (e.g. recreational therapy, music therapy, art therapy, CTRS, RTC, ATR, or CBMT)
2 years or more experience in a healthcare field
Excellent communication, assessment, evaluation, and interpretation skills
Knowledge of psychiatric and addictive disease diagnoses and treatment
Understanding of DSM-III R methodology
Therapeutic Options™ training to be obtained prior to providing direct patient care without a preceptor

Nice To Haves

Inpatient psychiatric experience preferred
Flexibility, teaching or training skills helpful

Responsibilities

Provide therapeutic recreational, art or music therapy services to our adult, adolescent, or child patients
Develops and implements adjunctive therapy treatment plans in concert with the interdisciplinary treatment team
Demonstrates sound application of recreation, music, or art theory and methodology
