About The Position

Teach one section of Aural Rehabilitation (COMD 433) during Spring Term on the BYU campus. Prepare and deliver engaging instruction on core topics including: Impact of hearing loss on communication and psychosocial development Principles of auditory training and speechreading Hearing assistive technology and over-the-counter hearing aids Communication strategies for individuals and families Counseling approaches in audiologic and speech-language rehabilitation Pediatric and adult approaches to aural rehabilitation Integrate clinical applications through demonstrations, case studies, and evidence-based discussions. Assess student learning through quizzes, exams, and practical assignments that reflect program learning outcomes and clinical reasoning skills. Incorporate BYU’s mission by teaching with the Spirit and modeling Christlike compassion and service in interactions with students and course content. Collaborate with department faculty to ensure alignment with program outcomes Maintain regular communication with students, including timely grading and feedback. Stay current with recent developments in audiologic rehabilitation, hearing technology, and counseling approaches.

Requirements

  • MS in SLP or Clinical Doctorate/MS in Audiology. The required degree must be completed by the start date.
  • Clinical and/or teaching experience in aural rehabilitation
  • Strong background in hearing loss, amplification, and communication strategies
  • Familiarity with counseling, culturally responsive practices, patient and family-centered intervention
