Job Summary: The Masters of Clinical Counseling is seeking candidates who could teach one or more of a variety of graduate-level courses. Our program offers courses throughout the year in three terms (Fall, Spring, and Summer) with 8 and 16 week courses. Classes are in person/on-ground, face-to-face, and vary from Monday to Thursday within the 2:00 to 8:15 pm range. Salary: PLNU adjunct pay: Using a 3-unit full semester appointment as a pay guide, the adjunct pay range is $5,013 - $6,684. The units will determine the actual salary. Job Status: Part time

Requirements

  • Ph.D., Psy.D., Ed.D. preferred; MA/MS accepted with evidence of specialized experience and licensure.
  • Advanced degree in marriage and family therapy, counseling, or a closely related field.
  • Since this is a program that meets academic requirements for licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist and/or a Licensed Professional Counselor, the applicant should be licensed as either an LMFT or LPCC and have experience in clinical practice and/or supervision.
  • Commitment to teaching excellence is required.
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques appropriate to effective graduate-level teaching.
  • Knowledge of ways to instruct, manage, motivate and evaluate students.
  • Experience to draw upon their own clinical training and experience to augment their teaching in the classrooms.
  • Ability to learn the Canvas / Workday online system for student grading.
  • Ability to successfully interact with students, other educators, educational institution representatives, and the general public in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate class instruction for a graduate-level course according to department standards.
  • Develop, deliver and review course materials and syllabi.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide substantive feedback on students' performance in class and assignments.
  • Utilize the Canvas platform for assignments, grading, and course structure.
  • Input Final Grads in Workday.
  • Provide accommodation for students who require it according to PLNU Educational Access Center.
  • Attend events and meetings as identified by the department.
  • Report weekly hours worked in Workday.
