About The Position

Nursing faculty are professionals responsible for preparing the next generation of nurses. They are accountable to the Dean/Director of Nursing for implementing the approved curriculum in line with the nursing program's and College/Campus's mission and philosophy. Faculty members provide students with opportunities to acquire knowledge and practice skills identified in course objectives, utilizing diverse and appropriate teaching methods. They are also tasked with planning learning activities to achieve program outcomes, adhering to established policies, legal and regulatory requirements, and acceptable practice standards. Additionally, faculty participate in the program's evaluation and continuous improvement processes and are expected to engage in personal professional development.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited professional nursing education program
  • A current active unencumbered license as a registered nurse in the state of OH or a multistate privilege to practice in OH
  • A master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program (Practical Nursing programs BSN may be acceptable depending on local need)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and analytical skills
  • Excellent teaching and classroom management skills
  • Functional abilities to carry out classroom, clinical, and laboratory teaching responsibilities
  • Competence in clinical skills in the areas of teaching
  • Competent in personal computer applications: word processing, spreadsheet, database, and email
  • Successful completion of criminal background check and drug screening, required immunizations, current CPR, and HIPAA certifications
  • Provides annual documentation of continuing professional growth at the employee’s expense

Responsibilities

  • Implement the approved curriculum based on the mission and philosophy of the nursing program and the College/Campus
  • Provide students with opportunities to acquire the knowledge and practice the skills identified in course objectives using varied and appropriate teaching methods
