About The Position

Stanbridge University is seeking dedicated Adjunct Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Faculty to educate and mentor the next generation of professional registered nurses. This opportunity supports ongoing and future instructional needs across multiple BSN specialty areas at our campus locations. We are actively seeking faculty with recent clinical experience in Medical-Surgical Nursing, Obstetrics (Maternal–Newborn), Pediatrics, Mental Health / Psychiatric Nursing, Community Health, and Nursing Leadership and Professional Practice . Teaching assignments are aligned with program needs, clinical expertise, and faculty availability . Adjunct faculty play a vital role in advancing student success by delivering high-quality instruction in the classroom, skills laboratory, and clinical setting . Through theory, hands-on skills development, and supervised clinical practice at approved clinical sites, faculty help prepare students for safe, competent, and compassionate professional nursing practice . Current High-Need Instructional Areas Faculty with experience in the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply. Adjunct faculty may be assigned to teach in one or more content areas : Medical-Surgical Nursing including acute/critical care Obstetrics (Maternal–Newborn Nursing) Pediatrics Mental Health / Psychiatric Nursing Community / Public Health Nursing Nursing Leadership, Professional Practice, or Capstone All specialty areas require: A minimum of one (1) year of clinical nursing experience in the applicable content area within the past five (5) years. Clinical experience that is documented and verifiable in accordance with institutional standards.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution, including coursework in nursing, education, or administration.
  • Valid, active California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Four (4) years of continuous, full-time (or equivalent) direct patient care experience as an RN.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of acute care experience within the past five (5) years.
  • Direct patient care experience within the past five (5) years in the assigned clinical specialty area or patient population (e.g., Medical-Surgical, Obstetrics/Maternal–Newborn, Pediatrics, Mental Health, Community Health).
  • Teaching assignments are aligned to demonstrated recent clinical experience in the applicable content area.
  • American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers certification.
  • Up-to-date immunization records.
  • Proficiency in educational technology and basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior teaching or clinical precepting experience in an academic or clinical education setting.
  • Knowledge of ATI and CourseKey.
  • Experience teaching both didactic and clinical courses in a nursing program.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a student-centered teaching philosophy.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively deliver clinical and/or theory instruction using provided course materials.
  • Develop teaching strategies that engage students and promote critical thinking and clinical judgment.
  • Apply nursing concepts and professional standards to evaluate student performance.
  • Facilitate learning experiences that integrate theory into patient care practice.
  • Ensure patient safety and compliance with clinical site and university policies.
  • Serve as a clinical resource by leading pre- and post-clinical conferences.
  • Engage students in reflective practice related to clinical experiences.
  • Establish a professional learning environment that promotes accountability, flexibility, passion, and integrity.
  • Promote student success through instructional flexibility and active engagement.
  • Maintain and submit accurate grades, attendance, documentation, and student feedback in a timely manner.
  • Maintain current knowledge of assigned nursing content and clinical practice.
  • Participate in department meetings and shared governance activities as required.
