About The Position

This is a temporary part-time teaching position in the Department of Music. Specializations in the field of music vary by need. We seek candidates with the commitment and demonstrated ability to establish positive relationships with students, and with the demonstrated potential to contribute effectively to a faculty team dedicated to creating a dynamic and inclusive learning environment. Therefore, the Adjunct Instructor is to be committed to an inclusive working environment and expected to participate as an active member of the department's collaborative endeavors with a commitment to quality instruction in assigned music courses.

Requirements

  • At least two (2) years of professional experience in collegiate teaching preferred.
  • The Adjunct Instructor engages their students beyond the classroom and must demonstrate an active commitment to the life of the University.
  • Adjunct Instructors are not eligible for tenure.
  • Adjunct Instructors hold master's degree in music, or related field from a nationally accredited university or college, commensurate professional experience, and have potential to become excellent teacher, student mentor in the academic community; and in fulfillment of the University's established criteria.

  • Teach day as well as evening or weekend times.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in Music such as Applied Woodwind, Applied Brass, Applied Voice, Ensemble Coaching, Class Piano, Music History, and Music Theory as needed.
  • Prepare course materials such as syllabi, presentations, and assignments in collaboration with other faculty members teaching the same courses
  • Deliver student centered learning through the effective use of available learning management systems (Canvas)
  • Administer and grade formative and summative assessments and provide feedback
  • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours for students
  • Support the college and departmental wide activities and services with a spirit of leadership, commitment, accountability, and collegiality
  • Adhering to the institution's policies.
