About The Position

Bank Street College, Graduate School of Education, is looking for an Onground Adjunct instructor for the following course to be taught Spring, 2026, on campus. This section will run specifically for students in our Early Childhood Advanced Standing program. Dates: January 20 2026 - May 5 2026 Course Day/Time: Wednesday 7-9 EDUC 523: Development Interaction Approach to Math, 1 credit This course is meant to develop a framework for thinking about early numeracy, addition, and subtraction as well as beginning to lay the foundation for geometric thinking and work with patterns. Students will explore the big ideas and strategies that underlie counting and how teachers can build on those as students move into a deeper conceptual understanding of addition and subtraction. Students will also engage in mathematical inquiry and will begin to explore their mathematical mindset and habits as mathematicians. Through this process of self-reflection students will consider how their experiences as mathematicians can support more inspired and thoughtful instruction.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in education or related field required. Doctorate preferred.
  • 5 or more years of experience in the field working directly with children from a range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds in educational or clinical contexts.
  • 5 or more years of experience teaching math to children in grades preK-2
  • Experience in the field supporting children's social and emotional development.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the field working with early childhood centers and/or public organizations, preferred.
  • Experience teaching at the graduate level, preferred.
