About The Position

Essentials of Biology (BIO 140) is an introductory biology course that prepares students for Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, and other courses in the Health Professions. Topics will include the microscopic and macroscopic levels of the body, the structures and functions of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, viruses, cellular division, metabolism, regulation of bodily activities, homeostasis, and technologies used in health-related conditions. Laboratory experiments will emphasize microscopy, histology, data collection, interpretation, presentation, and the development of other laboratory skills.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree or higher in Biology or a related discipline
  • Minimum of one-year of teaching experience
  • PA residency required

  • Previous teaching experience in a college or university
  • Excellent organizational skills required.
  • Experience with curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to establish positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary instruction and lab skills training, using the approved course curriculum and lab equipment.
  • Monitor student progress, provide individualized student feedback, remedial support, and referrals as appropriate.
  • Maintain all student records by entering student grades and withdrawals in a timely manner, and upon completion of the course, provide students with the final course grade and evaluation.
  • Maintain a safe environment for students in the lab and demonstrate compliance with procedures and protocols for lab cleanliness and standards.
  • Adhere to procedures and policies and maintain good communications and working relationships with faculty, staff, and lab assistants.
  • Participate in teacher meetings and professional development activities as required.
