About The Position

The Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences department at Colorado School of Mines is hiring for a Visual Arts instructor. This adjunct position will teach a one-credit hour course titled “Beginning Drawing and Painting.” This course is designed to be a friendly, practical introduction to drawing, painting, charcoal and mixed media approaches to creating art. In this class students learn basic approaches to creating visual art, which include color theory, composition, observation, and different kinds of subjects, e.g., landscape. The class is open to all skill levels, but is designed for beginners. The class meets once per week for 50 minutes, usually with approximately 20 students.

Requirements

  • Possess a post-secondary degree in art or art history (MA, MFA, PhD)
  • Minimum of three years teaching art (K-12 or post-secondary)
