About The Position

The SAGE (Seasoned Adults Growing Educationally) Program is seeking an engaging and organized Foreign Language Instructor to teach beginner-to-intermediate language non-credit enrichment courses for older adult learners. Instruction may include conversational skills, vocabulary development, pronunciation, and cultural context. The instructor will plan and deliver interactive, accessible lessons that support confidence-building and practical language use in a welcoming and supportive classroom environment. Courses are designed for adults aged 60 and older and should accommodate diverse learning styles and varying levels of language experience. The instructor is expected to remain current in their language discipline, use effective strategies for teaching older adults, assess participation and learning progress, and contribute to curriculum development and professional development activities that support lifelong learning. This position is not a remote position and requires teaching on-site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a foreign language, American Sign Language, Linguistics, education, or related field required. Equivalent native or near-native fluency with teaching experience may be considered in lieu of a degree depending on the course content/subject matter.
  • Professional certification, licensure, registry, or other credentialing as required for the specific discipline or content area.
  • Specialized experience in teaching or working with older adults (age 60+), including an understanding of age-related learning needs, cognitive and physical changes, and how these affect instructional strategies.
