NHTI is seeking a qualified adjunct faculty member to teach a variety of courses in the topic of Sociology, such as Introduction to Sociology, Environment & Society, Race & Ethnic Relations, and Conflict Resolution in Modern Society. These courses aim to provide students with essential knowledge in the basic concepts, principles, and applications of sociology, offering a framework for understanding the connection between everyday lives and the broader social world. A key learning outcome is for students to understand the relationship between individual experiences and historical context, as well as the structure of social institutions, with a focus on practical applications and real-world relevance. The Introduction to Sociology course specifically covers an introductory study of these concepts, principles, and applications, examining how society's concepts of race, class, and gender impact private and public worlds. Topics include inequality, poverty and unemployment, crime, deviance, social control, violence, social change, social movements, climate change, and global warming.
