About The Position

Fort Lewis College seeks to expand the pool of adjunct faculty available to teach for the 2025-2026 academic year and beyond. Adjunct instructors are responsible for teaching 3 credits per course in a specific discipline (i.e. Business, Science, Math, Music, Theater, etc… ) These are temporary, non-benefited, one-semester appointments that may be renewed.

Requirements

Master’s Degree or another advanced degree in your professional field
Ability to teach courses within the particular discipline as needed
Demonstrated teaching excellence at the College or University Level.
A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities

Nice To Haves

Ph.D., JD, MFA, or another terminal degree in your discipline
Demonstrated success working in a diverse student environment
Professional experience outside of academia
Online teaching experience

Responsibilities

Facilitate courses that are already developed either online or in-person
Promptly assess student work, providing specific and actionable feedback.
Adapt instruction based on students’ needs while maintaining high expectations.
Continuously improve instruction to ensure Student Learning Outcomes are met.
Maintain competency and currency in your professional field.
Follow all college policies and procedures.
Work collaboratively with others, utilizing a collegial style in all forms of communication.
Maintain knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 508
Produce and remediate digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards
Perform other duties as assigned
