About The Position

The adjunct faculty members at Colorado Mountain College (CMC) are responsible for assisting students in their learning process by utilizing all available resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies. Faculty members are committed to facilitating learning throughout the communities served by CMC. While teaching is the primary role, faculty are also expected to engage in scholarly endeavors and service activities. CMC is an institution offering associate and bachelor’s degrees, focusing on positive classroom experiences and excellent student outcomes, rather than research. Requirements

  • Credentialed to teach in the specific program or eligible to be credentialed.
  • Minimum of a master’s degree in a specific degree for the position being recruited or a Master’s Degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in a specifically related field.
  • Minimum of one-year full-time teaching experience, or the equivalent as an adjunct instructor.
  • An equivalent/applicable combination of education and experience to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Knowledge with pedagogy.
  • Teaching experience equating to two years.
  • Strong background in computers and technology.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • General office skills (filing, typing, answering the phone, customer oriented and attention to detail).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Ability to research and effectively analyze data.
  • Ability to work independently towards established goals and deadlines.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with students, employees, and community members of all backgrounds.
  • Successful completion of a background check.
  • Motor vehicles records report when applicable.
  • Employee must be a resident of the State of Colorado and perform all work duties within the state.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Higher education teaching experience preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students in their learning process by utilizing all appropriate staff resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies available.
  • Be committed to facilitating learning throughout our communities.
  • Engage in scholarly endeavors as well as service activities.
  • Teach course load as assigned.
  • Evaluate courses and assess student learning.
  • Meet established course, program and learning outcomes.
  • Comply with guidelines and policies.
  • Maintain office hours per established standards.
  • Develop rapport with students.
  • Assist with and participate in advising, orientation and registration activities.
  • Engage in scholarly and creative activities that enhance discipline expertise and enhance learning.
  • Participate in service activities such as campus and college committees.
  • Participate in relevant projects.
  • Mentor peers.
  • Participate in and assist with assessment activities.
  • Participate in program review.
  • Participate in student organization.
  • Participate in recruiting and retention.
  • Teach classes as assigned by designated supervisor.
  • Prepare appropriate lesson plans for each course in accordance with approved course objectives.
  • Develop and submit course outlines and syllabi to appropriate supervisor.
  • Assist with development of measurable course objectives and plans.
  • Develop a relationship with students & staff that is professional and encourages teacher/student communication.
  • Maintain accurate course records of students and complete course forms as required.
  • Be available for student consultation.
  • Assist in the recruitment of students, as appropriate.
  • Assist in the evaluation of curriculum and instructional performance (when agreed upon and appropriate).
  • Represent the college in a professional manner throughout the communities and college district by promoting a positive public image.
  • Engage in professional development as required for credentialing.
  • Adhere to all safety and compliance policies of Colorado Mountain College while performing all duties assigned.
