About The Position

Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary; part-time positions are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi the Division provides. PROGRAM OPERATION: 1. Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes. 2. Provide a syllabus appropriate to the course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements. 3. Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy outlined in the Adjunct Handbook. 4. Submits requested information within established timelines. 5. available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions/provide assistance. 6. Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with the program coordinator to resolve issues. INSTRUCTION: 7. Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s). Use technology such as LMS (Canvas), PowerPoint, etc., as appropriate. In the event of an emergency absence, notifies the department chair. Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diverse people, styles, and views. Promote the same as an integral part of one's work. 8. Work collaboratively with other Biology faculty and other instructors in the Science Department to foster excellence in Biology and its teaching. This includes working successfully with colleagues in the Science Department to develop and modify curricula, integrate new instructional methods into courses, and work to assure curricular coherence with other programmatic coursework. 9. Must have a strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction. 10. Ability to teach virtual classes (remotely via zoom) 11. Requirements

  • A qualified faculty member in biology meets the discipline standard through one of two routes:
  • Possesses an earned master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in a biological science, or
  • Possesses an earned master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in any field with 18 graduate semester hours in biology-related courses.
