About The Position

Responsible for the success of the total teaching/learning process within the assigned classroom, laboratory, shop, or other learning environment. Will be required to teach Dual Credit classes at dual credit locations and/or online

Requirements

  • Master's degree with 18 hours of graduate-level credit in teaching discipline, or combination of experience and education that yields the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Experience teaching in higher education within the instructional area being taught
  • Must possess the ability to focus on details, ensuring that every aspect of lesson planning, assessment, and student engagement is conducted with precision.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Instructors must demonstrate proficiency in operating computers, standard office equipment, and various instructional technologies. This includes a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook, as well as Learning Management Systems (LMS) and distance learning tools.
  • Must demonstrate the capacity to set priorities, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of working independently and must also thrive in team settings.
  • Ability to think critically and apply appropriate problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to articulate and support the values and Code of Conduct of Hill College.
  • Ability to interpret and abide by the policies and procedures of Hill College.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information.
  • Must exhibit excellent customer service skills, creating a welcoming and supportive environment for students and colleagues alike.
  • Demonstrating initiative in continuous learning, instructors should actively seek new concepts, skills, and experiences to enhance their teaching practice and stay current with educational trends and technologies.
  • Strong organization and time management are critical to balancing instructional duties, administrative responsibilities, and professional commitments.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of the guidelines of the state agency/accrediting agency for departments with regulation from outside agencies.
  • Working knowledge of all regulations in adherence to required licenses and certifications.
  • Working knowledge of the Hill College vision and mission.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Sets high standards in academic and scholarly excellence, personal integrity, and professional ethics; maintains professional development and engagement in the field.
  • Security sensitive position.
  • Travel for teaching at multiple campus sites as necessary.
  • Finger printing required for Dual Credit.
  • Light work; exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The use of arm and or leg controls requires exertion of force greater than that for sedentary work.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the development and review of curriculum and general education assessment.
  • Maintains familiarity with recent publications and journals, and participates in local or national professional societies and meetings where appropriate.
  • Conducts class discussions within the scope of the course and professional competence.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to maintaining a welcoming and safe environment that provides a sense of belonging for all.
