About The Position

Vance-Granville Community College (VGCC) seeks part-time Adjunct Instructors to teach in the associate degree Nursing (ADN) Program. Positions are available in Adult Medical-Surgical Nursing, Maternal-Child/Women's Health, Pediatrics, Psychiatric/Mental Health, and Community Health. Instructors may teach in the classroom, lab, and/or clinical settings as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina.
  • Minimum of two years of full-time clinical nursing experience.
  • Prior to or within the first three years of employment, completion of education in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, as required by the NCBON.
  • Ability to meet the physical and emotional demands of clinical instruction.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Nursing or current enrollment in a Master's in Nursing program.
  • Previous teaching experience in a nursing program, preferably at the community college level.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into instructional environments.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently as needed to move objects and to assist in the clinical setting.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and evaluate students in clinical settings to ensure safe, effective nursing practice.
  • Provide opportunities that integrate classroom theory with clinical application.
  • Prepare and deliver course materials, lectures, and assessments consistent with curriculum standards.
  • Evaluate and document student performance using established rubrics and NCBON-aligned outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Course Lead Faculty, Clinical Course Coordinators, and Program Administration.
  • Maintain accurate student attendance, grading, and clinical documentation.
  • Participate in scheduled orientation, faculty meetings, and student remediation activities as needed.
