About The Position

Nursing Programs at Santa Fe College provides quality nursing education that is student-oriented, accessible, and based on the healthcare needs of our community. Our Nursing programs offers 3-degree programs which includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Associate in Science in Nursing (ASN), and the Licensed Practical Nursing to Associate in Science in Nursing Bridge program. Additionally, Nursing Programs offers postsecondary adult vocational courses for Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Practical Nursing which prepare students for better career opportunities. All the programs are accredited by the Southern Association of Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). In addition to regional accreditation, the BSN program is accredited nationally by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the ASN by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and the Practical Nursing program is approved by the Florida Board of Nursing. Under general supervision, the Adjunct Assistant Professor develops, prepares and teaches a variety of nursing coursework within the laboratory setting. The Adjunct Assistant Professor must have the flexibility to teach courses during the day, evening, or online, as well as taught using other distance learning formats. The part-time instructional service rate for Information Technology Education Biotechnology, Central Sterile Processing Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Dental, Medical Imaging, Nursing, Physical Therapist Assistant, Respiratory Care, Surgical Technology, Graphic Design and Digital Media programs is $1,015 per semester credit hour.

Requirements

  • RN to BSN program's PT faculty must hold a minimum of a master's degree in nursing.
  • RN to BSN program's FT faculty must hold a minimum of a master's degree in nursing and a doctoral degree.
  • Hold current RN license for the State of Florida Board of Nursing.
  • Have related clinical and/or educational experience related to area of teaching.
  • ASN to ASN Bridge faculty must hold a minimum of an associate's degree in nursing.
  • Hold current RN license for the State of Florida Board of Nursing.
  • Have related clinical and/or educational experience related to area of teaching.
  • The majority of faculty in the ASN, ASN Bridge, and PN programs must hold a minimum of a master's degree in nursing.
  • PT faculty in the NA & PCA programs must hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree in nursing.
  • NA & PCA programs faculty must hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Hold current RN licensure for State of Florida Board of Nursing.
  • Have related clinical and/or educational experience related to area of teaching.
  • PN program faculty must hold a bachelor's degree in nursing.
  • Hold current RN or ARNP licensure for State of Florida Board of Nursing.
  • Have related clinical and/or educational experience related to area of teaching.
  • PT faculty must hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree in nursing.
  • A criminal background check and drug screening will be conducted.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, and delivers instruction to didactic, laboratory and/or classroom settings to promote student success within a community college setting.
  • Supports and promotes the college and departmental missions centered on excellence in teaching and learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and timely service.
  • Collaborates with the Chair, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum that cultivates the mastery of course content.
  • Demonstrates technological literacy and innovation in the delivery of instruction.
  • Works collaboratively as part of a cohesive academic team.
  • Assists with the implementation of college policies, objectives, and functions in accordance with the SF philosophy, mission, strategic initiatives, and procedures.
  • Participates in departmental meetings and collegewide committees as needed.
  • Provides students with frequent, timely assessment and clear feedback regarding academic performance.
  • Appropriately documents student progress in clinical sessions and maintains records including attendance, grading, and student learning outcomes and proctors exams for Nursing programs.
  • Develops methods that fairly and accurately assess students’ progress in achieving the stated learning outcomes/objectives.
  • Supervises, evaluates, and mentors students in the classroom, lab, and clinical settings.
  • Maintains appropriate office hours proportionate to the instructional assignment.
  • Strictly honors the privacy and security of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal and college regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Complies with all published College Rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws/regulations governing public employees, including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality.
  • Provides service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
