About The Position

The vision of the CCU Academy is to provide affordable online general education courses for high achieving high school students to help cut costs for families, prepare students for college, and provide an avenue for high school students to graduate with a high school diploma, CCU college credit, and even an associate’s degree at the same time when they choose to pursue the A.A. in Liberal Arts track. CCU Academy is seeking qualified instructors to become online affiliate faculty for undergraduate courses. CCU Academy offers asynchronous, college-level courses, taught in 10 and 15-week blocks, to high school students, giving them time to complete college coursework while attending high school. The University’s faculty is a group of experienced professionals who are able to integrate their evangelical Christian faith in the classroom and help disciple the next generation of Christian leaders.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in the subject area is required.
  • A willingness to become proficient in Brightspace, Zoom, and other multimedia or software programs. Must be willing and able to use a webcam and microphone for interactions with students and to grade student multimedia projects.
  • Proficiency in appropriate MS Office software required. ability to use appropriate software and technology in the learning environment.
  • An understanding of how to integrate faith and learning required for CCU Academy affiliate faculty.
  • A willingness to be highly engaging in the discussion forum: asking questions, affirming, guiding.
  • An encouraging and supportive tone appropriate for a high school student population, including personalized and substantive feedback for up to 30 students (per section).
  • A passion for higher education and dedication to student success.

Nice To Haves

  • Three to five years of online higher education teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Be committed to the integration of Christian faith and learning. Commitment is displayed through personal lecture material, announcements, and interactions with students on discussion boards.
  • Follow all established course policies and expectations in the Faculty Handbook and the Faculty Checklist.
  • Conduct weekly live sessions using Zoom to present personal lecture material, expand on course materials, and answer questions from students (faculty will have the option to post a pre-recorded lecture and host a live discussion or host a live lecture and include time for discussion).
  • Engage regularly with students through weekly course announcements, the weekly live sessions, participation in threaded discussion boards, and meeting with students as requested.
  • Return grades in a timely manner and include detailed actionable feedback with every graded assignment.
  • Faculty have access to their Brightspace course one month before their course is scheduled to begin and are expected to take the time necessary to familiarize themselves with the student learning outcomes, course content, textbook/s, assignments and delivery format. Faculty are expected to set up their courses (setting due dates, posting welcome announcements, reviewing course links, etc.) in a timely manner.
  • Willingness to complete annual course modules and review video and content material provided by the university on operating the learning management system (LMS) offered by the university.
  • Final course grades must be turned in a maximum of 10 days after the last day of class. (Note: final payment will not be made until grades have been turned in.)
  • Provide supplemental material, including personal lectures, that will enhance the class according to the experience and expertise of the faculty. Adhere to the course and course objectives for basic content.
  • Participate in any scheduled orientation meetings, faculty meetings, and any other training & forums as required.
  • Communicate promptly with the CCU Academy Student Advisor and Academic Support Coordinator with any student issues and questions, as well as reporting curriculum issues to the curriculum team when needed.
