About The Position

Adaptive Recreation Day Camp Counselor (2 Positions Available) Hours: 38-40 hours per week Camp runs from June 24-August 7, 2026 Mandatory Training Dates: June 19, 22, and 23, 2026 Mandatory Parent Night: June 23, 2026 Interviews: Will be scheduled as applications are received Must be available for in-person interviews. Hourly Rate: $18.75-19.75, depending on experience Duties: Under the direction of the Adaptive and Youth/Teen Manager, Adaptive Coordinator, and Co-Directors, plan and lead daily activities for children entering grades 4-6 (Fall 2026) with developmental and/or physical disabilities. Camp consists of a maximum of 5 campers and 1-2 staff members. Activities include field trips, sports, games, arts, and crafts. The City of Kent is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess a valid CPR and Standard First Aid Card by start date.
  • Must be enthusiastic, energetic, reliable, trustworthy, and remain calm under pressure.
  • Ability to be sensitive and responsive to the needs of all the campers.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and accomplish tasks with little direct supervision.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple distractions and competing priorities.
  • Applicants are subject to Washington State background check.
  • Other requirements include three personal and/or work references.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year or more of experience working with children with or without disabilities in recreation, teaching, or day camp environment.
  • Knowledge of age appropriate athletic and social activities, crafts, and other large group activities for children between 4-6 grade (Fall 2026) with developmental and/or physical disabilities.
