Jackson Memorial Hospital is the flagship hospital for Jackson Health System, a beacon of medical excellence and community care for more than a century. It is one of the nation's largest public hospitals and a world-class academic medical center with 1,500 licensed beds, providing nearly every medical specialty. The APRN Inpatient provides a wide range of primary, acute and specialty healthcare services, both autonomously and in partnership with other healthcare professionals, in accordance with State and Federal regulations. These services include managing patient's overall care; prescribing medications and treatments; ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, EKGs and lab work; diagnosing and treating chronic and acute conditions, including injuries, infections, diabetes and high blood pressure; performing invasive procedures; counseling; and educating patients on positive health-promoting lifestyle choices and disease, injury and illness prevention. Incumbents in the job classification may perform unit specific duties based on the specialty.
