About The Position

Provides assistance and/or performs basic activities of daily living and specified treatments and procedures under the direct supervision of the nurse. May perform non-direct patient care activities as assigned, requested, or directed including but not limited to stocking and clerical activities. Acute Care Techs in this position have less than 6 months clinical experience and no clinical certificate or training. They are enrolled in the Acute Care Tech Foundations program at TriHealth. Upon completion of the program and at 6 months for transition and competency. At the 6 month evaluation if they demonstrate independence in all competencies for the Acute Care Tech they are moved to the Acute Care Tech I or Acute Care Tech II position if they will also add Unit Coordinator competencies to their day to day responsibilities.

Requirements

  • 2 years High School Education
  • Age 17 with work permit
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Reading and math ability appropriate to the position

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as an STNA, PCA or ACT strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs and documents basic patient care tasks under RN supervision; maintains competency in trained skills and completes duties within required timeframes.
  • Ensures a safe environment by reporting hazards, following Infection Control policies, completing safety event reports, and adhering to safety and emergency procedures.
  • Communicates effectively and respectfully with patients, families, and staff; reports patient information and assignment issues promptly; collaborates with the healthcare team and uses the chain of command appropriately.
  • Accurately documents observations and tasks; assists with supply, equipment, and environmental needs; reports equipment issues and ensures supplies/equipment are ready for the next user.
  • Demonstrates accountability and commitment to self‑development; identifies areas for improvement and supports organizational and unit changes.
