Critical Care nursing is the specialty that manages human responses to actual or potential life-threatening problems. Nurses in the critical care setting provide direct care for patients who require complex assessments and interventions. The critical care nurse leads and participates in a collaborative interprofessional team to create safe, respectful, healing and caring environments with a goal of ensuring optimal outcomes. Critical care nurses are required to refine their assessment skills while blending in data obtained from a variety of invasive and noninvasive monitoring technologies to care for acutely and/or chronically ill or injured patients.
