About The Position

The Pennsylvania State University (PSU) – University Park is looking for a talented Association of College and University Housing Officers - International (ACUHO-I) Intern to join our Summer Residence Life team! PSU Residence Life is looking for candidates who are passionate about Residence Life and Student Affairs, while also being willing to learn more about both areas. As a Penn State Residence Life ACUHO-I Intern, you will be able to take on a Coordinator role and supervise your own staff of Resident Assistants (RAs), with assistance from the rest of the Summer School team. The successful candidate will report directly to a Residence Life Coordinator and work closely with campus partners, Residence Life Coordinators, Assistant Directors, the Associate Director, and student leaders, including Resident Assistants (RAs). The ACUHO-I Intern may have responsibilities in supervision, student leader development, community engagement, and student accountability. The successful candidate may also assist in larger department projects, as needed.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program
  • Demonstrate maturity, flexibility, and knowledge of Residence Life and/or Student Affairs
  • Ready to learn and develop through the experience.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision & Student Leader Development: The ACUHO-I Intern will hold weekly one-on-one meetings with RAs, facilitate staff meetings, coach resident assistants to support their success in the role, help develop training programs, and take part in educational training presentations.
  • Community Engagement: The ACUHO-I Intern will be responsible for creating and implementing engaging community programs that align with our residential curriculum approach. Programs will include dynamic large-scale events to small community connection events. The ACUHO-I Intern will also create and disseminate educational marketing materials through digital and print means on a weekly basis.
  • Student Accountability: The ACUHO-I Intern will participate in the Office of Student Accountability and Conflict Response process by engaging in reflective and restorative conversations with students and supporting proactive community education efforts.
