About The Position

The Department of Residence Life is accepting applications for a Residence Life Coordinator opening! Our Residence Life Coordinators (RLCs) oversee residential communities with an average of 580 residents assigned to them and supervise an average of 15 House Fellows (RAs). They’re charged with creating inclusive communities in the residence halls through supporting residents in crisis, mediating interpersonal conflicts, guiding and assessing student learning and community development, and holding students accountable through an educational conduct process. Most RLCs collaborate with faculty and academic staff in one or more learning or theme communities. We are committed to promoting balance and preventing burnout and have developed our departmental culture and staffing structure accordingly. RLCs are on-call an average of 7 weeks per year, don’t need to request weekends away, and are encouraged to use their generous leave time balances. We promote continued learning and development in all our staff through supporting on-campus professional development opportunities, conference attendance, and participation in professional organizations. With 8,900 residents, 21 residence halls, over 350 student staff, and 33 career staff, we are a large and thriving Residence Life program. We’re committed to providing a secure and inclusive environment that supports learning, personal development, and community engagement through our shared values of Care, Community, Development, and Wellness. We have intentionally structured our department with specialist staff dedicated to our key priorities: Belonging & Inclusivity, Resident Learning, Engagement & Advocacy, Staff Development, and Continuous Improvement. The Wisconsin Residential Experience, our residential curriculum, frames student learning and growth in our residence halls.
