The role we are looking to fill: ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Under the direct supervision of an Actuarial Analyst, responsible for assigned tasks and project(s); tasks and project(s) may vary from routine work to complex, multi-step projects, e.g., assist in pulling, validating, and analyzing large sets of healthcare data from various sources. Support the development and maintenance of Excel and SQL-based actuarial models. Complete multivariable statistical analyses on several disparate variables to determine the predictive value of a person’s future health care costs Utilize creativity and innovation in selecting methods and approaches for performing analyses Prepare and deliver presentation(s) to share methods, results, and findings to recipients with varying levels of technical knowledge. Projects may include claim reserving, pricing, forecasting, rate or system testing, data analytics, data visualization, or other tasks as assigned. Present project work and/or work deliverable(s) in various in-house meeting(s). This essential duties listing is not all inclusive, but representative. Other duties may be assigned. APPLICABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES (KSA) Proficiency with Excel for data manipulation and actuarial calculations; experience with VBA a plus. Familiarity with one or more programming or statistical tools (i.e. SQL, Access, SAS) a plus. Ability to perform detailed calculations and independently solve complex problems Attention to detail and accuracy Strong verbal and written communication skills Motivated with a strong interest in learning new skills and tasks Ability to work independently and in a team environment Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines Able to clearly communicate; strong listening skills and collegiate level writing skills. Capable of organizing assigned work with an appropriate level of attention to detail. QUALIFICATIONS Must be 18 years of age or older. Be actively enrolled in a college or university program majoring in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or another major with quantitative course work. Highly motivated and curious with the ability to learn quickly Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and web-based technologies Progress toward actuarial credentials (SOA) strongly preferred; at least one passed preliminary exam (i.e. Exam P/1 or FM/2) is a plus. Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship. PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee will typically experience: Standing, walking, and sitting. Lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds; occasionally lifting and/or move up to 25 pounds short distances. Usage of close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. Manipulation of keyboards, keypads, and calculators. Placing and answering telephone calls. Focused task tracking and follow-through. Some interpersonal tension in problem-solving/resolution interactions. Speaking/presenting to internal and external audiences of diverse sizes. Work environment noise level that is usually moderate. Open office environment with few, if any, loud sounds, or ongoing auditory distractions. Some deadline related stress. PROGRAM DETAILS Duration: June 1, 2026 through early August 2026 (full-time, typically 40 hours per week). Work arrangement: On-site Compensation: Competitive hourly wage; exam support or study time may be available. Development: Formal onboarding, training sessions, mentorship from actuarial staff, and a capstone presentation or final project at the end of the internship.
