About The Position

Sentara Health Plans is currently hiring for an Actuarial Analyst. This is a full-time, permanent position (40 hours) with work hours from 8am to 5pm EST, Monday-Friday. Remote opportunities are available in several states including Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington (state), West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum completion of one actuarial exam (Exam P (Probability), Exam FM (Financial Mathematics), Exam SRM (Statistics for Risk Modeling), Exam FAM Fundamentals of Actuarial Mathematics), Exam PA (Predictive Analytics), Modules (FAP/ASF): SOA Fundamentals of Actuarial Practice (FAP))

Responsibilities

  • Assist in any and all of the functions normally associated with a qualified health actuary including: IBNR calculation
  • Assist in the determination of rating factors such as age, sex, location, or industry
  • Assist in the development of rates and filings for the BOI
  • Assist in suggestions for periodic group rating changes
  • Assist in the development of necessary rates for government programs
  • Assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of new products, services and systems, including any necessary rate development
  • Provide actuarial input to the Corporate management staff level
  • Report on the financial status of entire products or segments of products
