Job Description We offer a merit-based work-from-home program based on job responsibilities. After initial training in-person, this specific role could have the flexibility to work from home up to 3 days per week. Please note we are not currently hiring fully remote positions. All candidates must have the ability to work in our home office in Lansing, MI from time to time. Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated insurance carrier, is seeking a motivated individual to join our Actuarial Division as an Actuarial Analyst. The position is responsible for creating pricing plans to help us accomplish our growth and profitability objectives and requires the person to: Evaluate frequency, severity, and premium trends for purposes of projecting future losses based on historical loss data. Become familiar with using and understanding insurance manuals and principles. Organize and provide management with reports to aid in decision making. Effectively communicate with other employees through verbal and written means. Participate in both formal and informal training sessions

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or another related technical field is required.
• High aptitude for mathematics and actuarial sciences
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Access
• Above average communication skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to adapt to constant change and innovation
• Please note that the ability to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship is a requirement.

Nice To Haves

• Actuarial exams are considered but not required
• Experience with Microsoft SQL, R, or other programming/database/statistical languages
