Care’s mission is to provide access to quality health care for Los Angeles County's vulnerable and low-income communities and residents and to support the safety net required to achieve that purpose.   Job SummaryThe Actuarial Analyst I supports the financial reporting, forecasting, rate development, regulatory filings, provider contracting, and ad hoc analyses of the organization and throughout this develops analytical skills and industry knowledge.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science or Related Field
  • In lieu of degree, equivalent education and/or experience may be considered.
  • No experience required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Completion of at least 1 actuarial exam.

Nice To Haves

  • Internship or academic experience involving actuarial work, data analysis, or healthcare finance is a plus
  • Experience with SQL, SAS, VBA, R, Python, or other data analysis tools is desirable.
  • Completion of at least 2 actuarial exams.

Responsibilities

  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, budgeting and audit processes, including reserve calculations for claims and risk corridors.
  • Analyze claims and enrollment data to identify trends and provide actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with other Actuarial team members.
  • Perform data validation and quality checks to ensure the accuracy of actuarial analyses.
  • Document methodologies, assumptions, and results in a clear and organized manner.
  • Contribute to regulatory filings and compliance reports as needed.
  • Assist in ad hoc data analyses as needed.
  • Develop understanding of industry trends, regulatory changes, and actuarial best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
