About The Position

Transportation Activity Driver $18.20 - $20.84 hourly Schedule: Part Time / Monday, Wednesday, Friday / 7:00am-3:30pm Must have a current, valid driver's license. Must have a minimum of three years’ experience in a commercial driving position or driving position in a senior community Location: Royal Oaks Retirement Community 10015 W. Royal Oak Road Sun City, AZ 85351 Cross streets are 99th and Grand Avenue Position Summary: Under the direction of the Transportation Supervisor, provide non-emergency transportation service for residents. Serve as a representative of Royal Oaks, demonstrating a positive attitude and progressive actions through the display of professionalism, courtesy, and appropriate tact and discretion in all interactions with all residents and co-workers.

Requirements

Must be 21 years of age.
Ability to read maps and locate addresses.
Follow written and oral instructions.
Reaction time - The ability to quickly respond (with hand, finger, or foot) to one signal (sound, light, picture, etc.) when it appears.
Far and Near Vision – The ability to see things close at hand (such as signs) or at a distance.
Operation and Control – Controlling operations of equipment.
Equipment Maintenance – Performing routine maintenance checks and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
Must be able to complete training on computer and/or other devices.
Maintain competency in the position and knowledge of trade/industry advances and new technologies.
Must be able to effectively communicate in English with all levels of staff, residents, and guests.
Preferably has a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Must have a minimum of three years’ experience in a commercial driving position or driving position in a senior community.
Has current, valid driver’s license. Driving record must meet the criteria set forth by Royal Oaks’ insurance carrier.
Has CPR certification and First Aid certification card or can obtain them within 30 days of hire.
Has current and valid Fingerprint clearance card or apply for one within 20 days of hire.
Must carry/lift/push or pull loads of up to 50 pounds.
May need to operate a fire extinguisher.
Is able to assist in evacuation procedures.

Nice To Haves

Preferably possess a valid CDL C driver’s license with P (passenger endorsement).
If applicable, has a Certificate of Completion for memory care services training or obtains within 30 days of hire and complies with annual certification requirements.

Responsibilities

Provide transportation to residents to and from hospitals, doctor’s appointments, grocery shopping, sponsored excursions, and other outings.
Maintain radio contact with dispatcher for delivery instructions.
Fuel and clean vehicle as needed; responsible for routine maintenance, servicing and repairs of vehicles.
Ensure residents have seat belts fastened properly and wheelchair brakes are locked and secured in place.
Follow all applicable traffic and vehicular safety rules and regulations.
When necessary, lifts, moves, and transports residents, using proper body mechanics or lifting devices.
Follow facility policy and procedure for reporting and documenting any incidents/accidents or variances of standard operations.
Able to work within a time schedule with minimal supervision.
Perform other duties as assigned.
