About The Position

The Activities Assistant is responsible for supporting and implementing a variety of therapeutic and recreational activities designed to enhance the quality of life for residents. This role requires a compassionate individual who can engage residents in meaningful activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and emotional well-being.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; experience in recreation, therapeutic activities, or healthcare preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect with elderly residents.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic approach to working with residents.
Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

Assist in the development and coordination of a diverse range of activities, including arts and crafts, games, social outings, and exercise programs.
Facilitate group and one-on-one activities that cater to residents’ interests and abilities, promoting engagement and participation.
Build rapport with residents by interacting with them in a warm, friendly, and respectful manner.
Encourage residents’ participation in activities and provide support as needed to ensure a positive experience.
Work closely with nursing staff, therapists, and other team members to incorporate therapeutic goals into activities.
Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff regarding activity schedules and resident preferences.
Maintain accurate records of resident attendance and participation in activities.
Provide feedback and observations to the Activities Director on resident progress and engagement.
Ensure a safe and clean environment during all activities, adhering to facility policies and procedures.
Follow infection control protocols and assist with any necessary equipment or setup for activities.
