About The Position

As an Activity Assistant, you will collaborate with the Engagement Director to enhance the lives of residents through engaging activities. This role focuses on creating enjoyable experiences for independent residents, those in assisted living, and individuals in memory care, catering to their physical, intellectual, and emotional well-being to foster a vibrant community. Prior experience with the memory care population is essential, along with comfort in facilitating activities that require one-on-one interaction and significant support.

Requirements

  • Must have prior experience with the memory care population and feel comfortable affiliating activities that require one-on-one and a LOTS of support.
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Love connecting with seniors and naturally get along with them.
  • Be creative and able to plan and lead activities that suit different interests and abilities.
  • Organize things well and pay attention to details.
  • Communicate effectively and be kind.
  • Be flexible to work different shifts, including weekends and evenings.
  • Know basic computer skills for documenting and communicating.
  • Must be able to work on the exact days specified in this job posting (Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays).
  • Criminal Background Screening is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Some classes in recreation, gerontology, or related areas are a plus.
  • Certifications in dementia care or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Engagement Director to plan and run a variety of activities, like exercise programs, interesting sessions, art projects, trips, spiritual gatherings, and events with speakers and music.
  • Connect with residents personally, understanding what they like and need to make sure activities are enjoyable and meaningful.
  • Help plan trips outside the community, organize details, and make sure residents are safe and happy.
  • Create a warm and inclusive environment where residents can make friends and discover new interests.
  • Keep records of resident participation and feedback to help improve our programs.
  • Share creative ideas to keep our programs exciting and in line with what seniors like.
