About The Position

- The Activities Specialist at LIFESTREAM BEHAVIORAL CENTER is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing a variety of therapeutic and recreational activities aimed at enhancing the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of clients. This role is pivotal in promoting a supportive and engaging environment that fosters personal growth, social interaction, and skill development.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required
  • Minimum of one year experience working with the target population
  • Experience in developing and implementing activity programs for individuals with mental health challenges.
  • Strong knowledge of therapeutic activities and their benefits in mental health treatment.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills to create effective activity schedules.
  • Ability to assess individual needs and tailor activities to support therapeutic goals.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with clients and team members.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Proficiency in documenting client progress and activity outcomes.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and emergency procedures in a behavioral health setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate a diverse range of activities tailored to meet the needs and interests of clients, ensuring they align with therapeutic goals.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to integrate activities into individualized treatment plans and adjust as necessary based on client progress and feedback.
  • Facilitate group and individual activities, providing guidance and support to encourage participation and maximize therapeutic outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of activities, making adjustments to enhance engagement and therapeutic value.
  • Maintain accurate records of client participation and progress, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
  • Provide training and support to volunteers and staff assisting with activities, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
  • Stay informed about current trends and best practices in therapeutic recreation to continually improve program offerings.
  • Organize and manage resources, including equipment and materials, to ensure the smooth execution of activities.
  • Foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere that promotes respect, dignity, and inclusivity among clients and staff.
