About The Position

The Activities Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering an exceptional lineup of ranch activities that inspire adventure, connection, and fun for guests of all ages. This role oversees the daily operations of the Activities Department, leads a dynamic team, manages vendor relationships, and ensures each guest enjoys safe, well-organized, and memorable experiences. The ideal candidate is energetic, organized, creative, and confident managing logistics, schedules, and partnerships with outside activity providers.

Requirements

  • Experience in outdoor recreation, hospitality, adventure programming, camp management, or related fields.
  • Proven ability to negotiate contracts, manage vendor relationships, and oversee permitted activities.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Excellent organizational ability and attention to detail.
  • Warm, professional guest-service approach.
  • Creativity in developing engaging and memorable activity programming.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions; able to lift 40–50 lbs.
  • Flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and peak-season demands.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain

Responsibilities

  • Activity Programming & Coordination Plan and oversee the weekly schedule of guest activities, including but not limited to, hiking, archery, clay shooting, ropes course sessions, fly-fishing, white-water rafting and seasonal events.
  • Ensure all activities are well-prepared, on time, and delivered to ranch standards.
  • Maintain activity equipment, supplies, and facilities in clean, safe, and excellent working condition.
  • Adjust programming based on guest interests, weather, staffing, and seasonal dynamics.
  • Collaborate with other ranch departments to support special events, meal rides, and cross-department activities.
  • Vendor, Permit & Contract Management Build and maintain strong relationships with local vendors, guides, outfitters, and partner organizations that support off-site or specialty activities.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts, pricing, service agreements, and seasonal partnerships in alignment with ranch standards and budget.
  • Manage and track required permits for activities such as river access, hikes, parks usage, or other jurisdictionally regulated experiences.
  • Ensure all contracted vendors meet ranch expectations for safety, professionalism, and guest experience.
  • Coordinate scheduling, billing, communication, and logistics with outside providers to ensure seamless execution of vendor-supported activities.
  • Staff Leadership & Training Train and supervise activity staff.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and leadership to ensure efficient, safe, and guest-centered activity facilitation.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative team environment.
  • Ensure staff follow safety procedures, guest interaction standards, and operational protocols.
  • Guest Experience Engage warmly with guests and guide them toward activities that match their interests and comfort levels.
  • Build rapport with guests and ensure their experience is welcoming, safe, and memorable.
  • Address guest questions, concerns, and feedback professionally and effectively.
  • Continuously evaluate programming to enhance variety, quality, and guest satisfaction.
  • Administrative & Operational Duties Manage staff schedules, daily logistics, activity rosters, and inventory.
  • Communicate activity schedules clearly to guests and staff.
  • Track participation, oversee budgeting for activities, and assist with purchasing and vendor invoicing.
  • Support smooth transitions between activities, events, and ranch traditions.
